Terms of Service

Last updated: September 2026

1. Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account, signing in, or using Dondoa's services, you agree to these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

2. About Dondoa

Dondoa is a digital growth and consumer intelligence platform that connects consumers with local businesses across East Africa, rewards verified purchases with Dondoa Points, and issues digital receipts. The platform also supports business listings, property listings, accommodation bookings, and service packages.

3. User Accounts

You must provide accurate information when creating your account. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account and for all activity under your account. You may sign in using email or supported social providers (Google, Apple, Facebook, Microsoft). Social-login users are not required to complete a separate email verification when the provider has already supplied a verified email address.

4. User Roles

New users are assigned the standard Customer/User role. Merchants and administrators are granted elevated roles only after completing the applicable Dondoa onboarding or approval process. Social login does not automatically grant merchant or admin status.

5. Dondoa Points and Rewards

Dondoa Points are earned through verified purchases at participating merchants and may be redeemed according to the terms of each merchant's rewards programme. Points expire 180 days after they are earned. Dondoa reserves the right to void points obtained through fraudulent or invalid activity.

6. Merchant Listings and Services

Merchants are responsible for the accuracy of their business profiles, product listings, offers, and service packages. Dondoa may review, edit, or remove listings that violate these terms or applicable law. Merchant subscriptions, QR reward programmes, and verification statuses are governed by separate merchant agreements.

7. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use Dondoa to post false or misleading information, impersonate another person or business, engage in fraudulent transactions, abuse the rewards system, harass other users, or violate any law. Dondoa may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.

8. Privacy

Your use of Dondoa is governed by our Privacy Policy, which describes how we collect, use, and protect your data. You can review the Privacy Policy within the app at any time.

9. Account Deletion

You may request deletion of your account from within the app. Deleting your account removes your personal data from active use, subject to limited legal retention requirements. Transaction records, financial records, and fraud-prevention records may be retained or anonymised as required by law.

10. Limitation of Liability

Dondoa is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Dondoa shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service.

11. Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms as our services evolve. We will post the updated version here and revise the "Last updated" date. Material changes will be communicated through the app or by email where appropriate.

12. Contact

If you have questions about these terms, please contact us through the in-app support options or the contact details provided in the app.

Marketplace Transactions, User Consent, Safety and Liability

1. Dondoa's role

Dondoa is a digital discovery, listing and rewards platform operated by Ubah Media Lab. Dondoa enables users to discover and communicate with independent merchants, sellers, accommodation providers, property advertisers and other service providers ("Providers").

Unless expressly stated otherwise, Dondoa is not the seller, property owner, accommodation provider, employer, agent or representative of any Provider. A Provider's listing on Dondoa does not constitute an endorsement, certification or guarantee by Dondoa.

2. Transactions with Providers

Any enquiry, booking, purchase, payment, delivery, meeting, property viewing, service arrangement or other interaction between a user and a Provider is entered into directly between those parties, unless Dondoa expressly identifies itself as the contracting party.

Users and Providers are responsible for agreeing on the price, quality, availability, delivery, cancellation, refund, warranty and other terms of their transaction. Where a third-party payment provider is used, its separate terms and privacy practices may also apply.

Dondoa may provide communication, booking-request, location, listing, QR-code or rewards functionality, but these features do not make Dondoa a party to the underlying transaction.

3. User verification and safety responsibilities

Users must exercise reasonable care before making payments, sharing information, meeting another person or entering into a transaction. Users should:

  • Verify the identity and contact information of the person or business.
  • Review the listing, price, condition, location and transaction terms carefully.
  • Inspect products or property before payment where reasonably possible.
  • Confirm ownership, licences, approvals or authority when dealing with property, accommodation or regulated services.
  • Use secure and traceable payment methods and retain receipts and transaction records.
  • Avoid transferring money in advance when the identity or credibility of the recipient has not been verified.
  • Never disclose passwords, verification codes, one-time passwords, banking PINs or other confidential credentials.
  • Meet unfamiliar persons in a safe public place and inform a trusted person when appropriate.
  • Stop communicating and report the account or listing if fraud, impersonation, harassment, pressure or suspicious behaviour is suspected.

Dondoa is not an emergency service. Users facing an immediate threat should contact the appropriate police, emergency service or other competent authority.

4. Listings and third-party information

Providers are responsible for ensuring that their listings, images, descriptions, prices, availability, ownership claims and other information are accurate, lawful and current.

Dondoa may review, moderate, restrict or remove content, but does not guarantee that every Provider, user, listing, review or claim has been independently verified. Users must conduct their own checks before relying on information presented through the platform.

5. Rewards and QR codes

Reward points may be issued only for eligible interactions with participating merchants and may be subject to merchant-specific conditions, limits, expiry periods and redemption rules. Users must not scan QR codes fraudulently or attempt to obtain points without a genuine qualifying interaction.

Reward points are promotional benefits and are not cash, legal tender, stored monetary value or transferable property unless expressly stated otherwise.

6. Disputes between users and Providers

Users should first raise complaints concerning a product, payment, booking, delivery, refund or service directly with the relevant Provider.

Dondoa may, at its discretion, receive reports, preserve available platform records, restrict accounts or assist the parties in communicating. However, Dondoa is not required to resolve private disputes and does not guarantee that a user will receive a refund, replacement, payment or other remedy from another party.

Nothing in these Terms limits a user's right to report suspected fraud, criminal conduct or consumer-protection concerns to the appropriate authority.

7. Assumption of risk and limitation of liability

Users acknowledge that communicating and transacting with independent third parties involves risks, including misrepresentation, fraud, non-delivery, defective products, unsafe meetings, property disputes, financial loss and personal injury.

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Dondoa and Ubah Media Lab will not be responsible for the conduct of independent users or Providers, or for indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss arising from a third-party listing, communication, meeting, purchase, booking, payment or service arrangement.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including applicable statutory consumer rights or liability arising from Dondoa's own fraud, wilful misconduct or other conduct for which liability cannot be limited under applicable law.

8. User consent

By creating an account, selecting "I agree," contacting a Provider, submitting an enquiry or booking request, scanning a merchant QR code or otherwise using Dondoa, the user confirms that they:

  • Have read and accepted these Terms of Service and the Privacy Policy.
  • Understand Dondoa's role as a platform connecting independent parties.
  • Understand that they are responsible for evaluating the people, businesses, listings and transactions with which they choose to engage.
  • Agree to take reasonable safety and verification measures.
  • Accept that their statutory and consumer-protection rights remain unaffected.

Users who do not agree to these Terms should not create an account or use Dondoa.
